Hey Bethany! Your hair is gorg! How long do you leave the color on? Thank you so much for making this video!!

I have nearly black hair naturally, I’ve dyed it red quite a few times, it’s more like reddish brown even though I used a vibrant one. I just used the hicolor loreal made for dark hair in the copper color and it turned it darker..and it’s more of a dark brown now with coppery red only in the light. If I bleach it, and use the same color, will it alter the tone it becomes? I hear dark hair bleach turns orange, is this true?

Usually each brand that sell you the color offers a clear coat as well. I haven’t done it yet but that what my stylists suggests since color clings more to the bottom of my hair and less at the top. That what I can have an even color when I refresh. 🙂 Idk if it’s common but that what she suggests.

  8. TheBethanyFae says

Yes, you only use it once. The color from using it stays in for that many washes. I don’t suggest using any color that needs to be activated with a developer in your shampoo I’ve read it doesn’t do anything. The only hair coloring you could add into shampoo is referred to as “veggie hair dye” I’ve never tried it but maybe you could search about it. Its usually brands like Manic Panic that don’t require a developer or activator. 🙂

I added a video in the downbar I felt was helpful for me in coloring my hair. She has a lot of great tips. I’ll get around to a good tips video sometime myself also. My suggestion is that if you’re really going to go through with it..read and do as much research as possible to feel prepared. If you’re still hesitant I wouldn’t go through with it.

Idk if I answered this.I can never find when I answer ppl! I always set mine with either NYX Stay Matte powder or Rimmel’s matte powder. NXY adds a little extra coverage. 🙂

Never heard of just doing the roots and then clear coating the rest either…what product would be the clear coat? And that seems even less damaging to hair, is that a common method?

  13. freshbeanne says

I’ve not heard the term demi-permanent…wondered about what you read from the bottle about like “24 washes” but you use the whole thing at once right? But some people just wash a bit of the bottle in like shampoo? What effect would that give? And yes I would run all info past my hairstylist first…good caution you give there 🙂

Sorry for such delayed reply but yes a video about prep and tips talk thru conveying what works for you would be so lovely! I get what you’re saying that you learned from viewing others, but I am lazy and I spend way too much time viewing other topics and this hair coloring topic just leads me to feeling lost or overwhelmed. Seems a lot are to go blonde and I start losing attention span or something. You could also link in the downbar to the videos you thought helpful.

Wow! It looks like we have the exact same natural hair color. I never thought of going darker, but your hair color now inspires me. Thanks for the info.

  16. TheBethanyFae says

Thank you! Oh, it’s like a bright super hero red. That’s looks really similar to the shade I’ve seen girls have when they use Loreal Hi Color Highlights in Red Fire that’s also sold at Sally’s beauty supply. I’ve never used it before as it’s permanent color and meant to brighten even darker hair but I’d bet this may work for you depending on your own hair. What color hair do you have already?

Thank you Bethany for responding to me. That was sweet and thoughtful. Love Revlon colorstay. I will have to buy another bottle as I do not have it right now, and am using other products. Do you set yours with a powder?

  21. TheBethanyFae says

Thank you again! 😉 This was a while ago so I think I was wearing Revlon Photo Ready here or Revlon Colorstay. Now I wear Make Up Forever Mat Velvet most of the time and use those other two drugstore ones still.

  22. TheBethanyFae says

Thank you so much! I’m glad I could help! 🙂

Also, what foundation do you use? Your skin is flawless

Hey Bethany your hair is gorg! Thank you for making a red hair tutorial. As a natural blonde, and dying my hair red, I know how daunting it can be. All video’s like this are useful tools and give wonderful ideas. Thanks again! <3

  25. TheBethanyFae says

That would depend on your current hair color. If already a lighter color than yes. The auburn hue in it will make it a deeper red. It will just take whatever color you currently have and make it closer to mine the best it can with what current color you have as a base. Since my hair is pretty light, it’s fairly true to color and making it darker, but also more vibrant in color.

We Love to Hear From You
