can I first weld a spot repair.. then spray etching primer then can i use
80 grit and scratch it to apply body filler OR do i first just use my body
filler and block it then apply my etchin primer on top of body filler and
    metal.. DOES BOTH WAYS WORK??

I think I would to be safe. I don’t know for sure, but I would be afraid
the epoxy may not adhere properly or it may cause a chemical reaction.
Although, epoxy is very compatible with a wide range of products. But to be
safe, I would sand the rustoleum off. Thanks for watching!

@NIGHTRIDER995 This is a wax and grease remover. Any auto paint store
should have it available in the brand they carry. Thanks for watching. You

I would put the fiberglass on the bare metal, then you can use a coat of
body filler, then epoxy primer, primer surfacer. Then the primer surfacer
will need to be block sanded. Thanks for watching. You can also visit
CollisionBlast(dot)com/Books for more information. Thanks for watching,

  10. If the time left between flashes is relatively short, like an hour or less,
can you leave paint in the cup or should you re-mix everytime?

@MVC2FOELIFE If I welded something, I would grind it, apply a coat of
fiberglass filler to seal the area, sand the filler and apply body filler
to get you finised shape, then apply etch primer to metal areas only, last
apply primer surfacer. If you have a lot of metal showing, I would apply
epoxy or wash primer before applying primer surfacer. It is not recommended
to apply etch primer before applying body filler.

  13. DIY How To Paint A Car School says

Yes, base works great over epoxy. In fact, epoxy is very user friendly and
    compatible with other products.

  14. DIY How To Paint A Car School says

On aftermarket parts, I will get a rag with lacquer thinner on it and wipe
a spot on the part. If the rag turns black, this means it is a cheap
primer. Then I will strip and apply epoxy before painting. If no black
transfers to the rag, it is quality primer, then I will sand with 500,
scuff edges, the apply primer sealer, base and clear.

Spray guns have two settings. When pressing the trigger halfway you only
have air. When you pull it all the way back, you have fluid. Thanks for
    watching.

much as possible before laying epoxy primer? Thanks!

If it is for a spot repair the size in the video, I use about 20 psi.

  21. Scott Amoroso says

Hi Donnie, I have a 93 Lesabre where some areas of paint have chipped away
and the gray e-coat is showing. Does the whole panel need to be taken down
to the e-coat as well before painting? I have a feeling that once I start
sanding that area, I will cause more paint to chip off which is fine, but
should i just continue and take it all off, even on the areas where it does
not chip off easily? (and perhaps fill in the lows with filler)? thanks!

  22. @ChekoSk8r use lint free wipes for that

  25. DIY How To Paint A Car School says

If you just have a few small metal spots, then you may consider getting a
spray can of self etch primer. Apply a thin coat to the bare metal spots,
then apply the primer surfacer. You do not want to apply primer surfacer
directly over metal unless it is a direct to metal surfacer. Thanks for
    watching.
