do you have to use the dryer for the water born paints to work in a home
shop or will it just take a little longer? and if you have not already
could you make a vid on the difference between the guns used for water born
paints and solvent? thanks for the vids you have more good info than most
schools do i’m sure you are helping lots of new enthusiasts as well as
long time old school body men like me thanks again.

I agree, this would probably work better for a production shop concerned
    about speed. Thanks, for watching!

Good video….I like using waterbased paints/primers….this looks like a
    winner…Thanks

  4. The way you say, Seal and sealer. Is dumb

Good video. Not sure how viable waterborne products would be for the DIY
    painter…?

We applied 4 medium coats and we were not quite at the 2.5 mills after
sanded. We’ll need to spray the coats heavier or apply 5 coats to get this
mill thickness. It is supposed to work well as a direct to metal primer.
I’m sure PPG has tested it, but I have not seen long term use of the primer
yet. I am sure they guarantee it as they do with their other products.
    Thanks for watching!

Didnt hear you talk about the mixing ratio

You can blame that on my dad…..raised on a ranch in the south. I guess
you can take a boy out of the country, but not the country out of a boy!
    Anyway, thanks for watching!

We use water based here in Ireland with a good few years due to
    regulations, find it very good

That is good to hear from someone who uses it all time. Thanks for letting
    us know!

Yes, waterborne is more environmental friendly and produces much less VOCs
and harmful ingredients. You would need the air blower gun, but I guess you
could use it at home. I think waterborne is all that is available in
California…or that is all they are supposed to use.

    Thanks for watching the video!

  17. lowrider507 says

    Whats the mixing ratio

  18. DIY How To Paint A Car School says

It mixes 13% by volume. So if you mix 10 oz. of primer surfacer, add 1.3
oz. of reducer. That is all that mixes with it.

  19. Jimmy Collins says

love the videos, any chassis alignment videos on the cards

  20. DIY How To Paint A Car School says

IT did not have any shrinking problems that I noticed. I works good!

A bit of what AeroSport103 said, but I am a home paint user, but my
neighbours are very close, do you think waterborne could be used instead of
solvent without too much hassle, I have no experience of it at all would
like to paint when i want to rather waiting for neightbours to go out Scott

Hi, Great video, how do you rate waterborne primer for corrosion protection
when applied over bare metal (direct to metal)? On a wing how much paint
would be used to achieve 2.5 mills film thickness? Thanks

  23. Ed Passerini says

    Good teaching,thanks, Paisano
